Before Pesach 5740
(1980), the Rebbe launched a campaign to engage Jewish boys and girls
everywhere. After several successful initiatives over the summer, the Rebbe
asked that three rallies be held for children the world over during the Tishrei
In 770, the Rebbe
joined the final rally and addressed the children, launching a bold, new
initiative. He asked that Jewish children be united in a single organization
called “Tzivos Hashem,” telling the children that they were front-line soldiers
in G-d’s battle against their own Evil Inclination.
This was the
founding of Tzivos Hashem.
Children’s Rally with
Throughout the years of his
leadership, and especially after his launch of the Tzivos Hashem International
Children’s Club in 1980, the Rebbe devoted a huge amount of his attention, time
and energy toward children.
Children are not only the future
of our people, the Rebbe explained, they are its today.
A key feature of the Rebbe’s
relationship with children was the special events he led at for children only.
