Description

Until now, the private life of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, has been shrouded in mystery. Based on first-person testimony from the oral history project, My Encounter with the Rebbe, The Early Years Volume Three sheds unprecedented light on Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s last years in Paris, from 1938 through 1940.

Meet the people who knew the Rebbe and the Rebbetzin then, and watch first-person testimony recounting their life at that time. Learn how the Rebbe and Rebbetzin lived during the tumultuous events that led to World War Two. During this period, the Rebbe corresponded with his parents, Rabbi Levi Yitzchok and Rebbetzin Chana Schneerson, and worked to help rescue his father-in-law, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok from war-locked Europe. He also attended classes at the prestigious University of Paris, known as “the Sorbonne.”

The filmmakers have discovered new documents in archives, shedding unprecedented light on this period in the Rebbe’s life. They were also granted remarkable access to the archives at Lubavitch World Headquarters, enabling them to present documents which have never been seen, until now.
