Farbrengen Chof Av, 5731 (1971) - Talks 1, 2, 3, 7

Experience the spiritual joy and intellectual rigor of a Farbrengen with the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory.

Listen as the timeless truths of the Written Law, the Talmud, Kabbalah and Chasidism are applied to issues of contemporary social and ethical concern.

During pauses in the Yiddish talk, the thousands in attendance sing Chassidic melodies and the Rebbe greets them with blessings of L’Chaim!

To experience a Farbrengen is to glimpse the unity of higher and lower worlds, a meeting of the Divine and the human, the mystical and the mundane, the timely and the timeless.

Description Contents

On the 20th of Menachem-Av, 1971, Yahrzeit of the Rebbe’s father and mentor Rabbi Levi Yitzchak, of righteous memory, the Rebbe conducts a Siyum, completing a Tractate of Talmud.

Using the concluding passage in Tractate Chagigah as a springboard, the Rebbe delves into the debates of the Houses of Shammai and Hillel across “the sea of Talmud,” returning to the shores of Chagigah with a new outlook upon this famed rivalry in Jewish law – and a new outlook on life itself.

In between discussions on Tractate Chagigah, the Rebbe deciphers a cryptic passage in Tractate Taanis that has left scholars perplexed for nearly two millennia.

This special release includes the entire four hour event. Four of the major addresses are presented with subtitles.
