First in 1929, less than two years after escaping a death sentence by the communists, and then again in 1940, when Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, the Sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, set foot on U.S. soil, he vowed to affect the people and mentality of America, rather than be affected by them.

A documentary narration and first person testimonies provides a guide through the scenes:

1929 - The Rebbe is greeted by throngs as he arrives in New York for an eleven month visit.

1930 - A gathering in honor of the Rebbe’s departure from New York

1933 - A Melave Malka honoring Rebbe’s emissary, Rabbi Yitzchak Horowitz.

1940 - Having narrowly escaped the Nazis, the Rebbe arrives in New York.

1940 - The Rebbe visits Lakewood, New Jersey, to recover from his ordeal.

1949 - The Rebbe’s United States citizenship proceedings at 770 with his son-in-law and successor at his side.

1950 - The Rebbe’s funeral.
